After discovering that both bike shops in Kerrville AND both bike shops in the next nearest town of Fredericksburg were all closed on Mondays, we made the decision to drive the 2 hours to Austin to a bike shop we KNEW was open.
We left Hill Country and drove through Vineyard Country. It was beautiful!

We had no idea that this area of Texas was so rolling and lush with vineyards everywhere! So far, it’s our favorite scenery.

At last, we spotted Austin, Texas.

We quickly discovered that downtown Austin was NOT RV friendly with sharp turns, tight corners, and NO parking for anything larger than a car!

Chuck ended up going to “Mellow Johnny’s” the bike shop brain child of Lance Armstrong. They immediately identified 3 spokes breaking through the rim and were able to quickly replace it.

It was lunchtime and we decided to drive out of the downtown area so we could park Howie somewhere legally and landed at Tacodelli.

It was definitely coffee time after both missing some sleep from a brightly lit campground we had stayed in. No matter how dark our curtains are in our little room, it felt like daylight! The perils of a different campground every night… we enjoy having the same comfortable bed.

The coffee was phenomenal and then we met Julia who was sitting next to us. It turns out she is a bread cancer survivor and is doing some work for smaller pharmaceutical companies developing better versions of cold capping and gloves for patients going through chemo to help avoid neuropathy.

We found our RV Park near the river (Austin Lake) with bike paths nearby, much like yesterday's!

The camp host Larry was so friendly and it turns out his previous wife had a miraculous healing from cancer as well. We shared our stories and he kindly comped our fee for the night!

It turns out we are staying in the space the actor Matthew McConaughey lived in. Who knew!

We rested for a bit after hooking up the RV and turned on our AC to cool down. Then we pulled out our scooters and hooked up the trailer and rode a few miles up and down the river trails.

We picked a restaurant directly adjacent to our campground, a cute Italian restaurant named “Juliet.”

A quick stop in across the street at a local small grocer for some water and bananas and we scootered back home to Howie.

This city had very unexpected steep hills, old downtown, and tall buildings. We really enjoyed the parts of it we saw today!

We especially enjoyed the good food and coffee but the best part is always the many people that we meet along the way. (We have to get better at photographing them all! Today we easily give out 20+ bracelets and stickers!)
