Day 29 - Ride Like A Thriver

We woke up to a windy cloudy morning once the “sun” rose 1.5 hours after we got up.

The temps are in the low 50’s a BIG change from the past few days. Long sleeves and layers!

That last 18 miles were windy and RAINING!

We finally pulled into Marathon, Texas and stopped at a cute French Grocer (I know right?) and met Jean who was biking around America from Canada! He is a Rwandan refugee turned DJ who is taking 6 months to travel the circumference of the US! He is riding for a charity to provides bikes to Rwandan kids to get to school.

We found a cute (and the only) coffee shop in town to eat a late lunch before we park at the RV Park for the evening.
It is amazing how different each town we drive through is. Some are ghost towns and some are developed and thriving even if they are small.

As we were sitting in Howie relaxing, we saw some bikers pull up. We recognized the exhaustion. Hannah had made a huge amount of pasta and sent Chuck to find their tent to invite them for a hot meal.
What a treat to exchange our bike stories and life experiences! Keith and Darryl filled their stomachs and we had a great time sharing.

We took a walk after dinner on the Park grounds and met some wonderful people!

Helen & Mike, Greg & Lynette.
it’s so fun to exchange stories and share our mission as we cross the country.
