Day 45 - Ride Like A Thriver

We are on the road again!

We drove 2 hours to get back on the bike route just east of Austin. The road was rough here and there and no shoulder so we couldn't ride together very long because trucks were flying by.
We saw some really neat Architectural antique stores and figured the town of Round Top must be a destination for this type of shopping. Some day we will come back to decorate the Living Hope Cancer Retreat!

Hannah gives a snapshot of what it’s like to be a chase vehicle. Lots of on the spot decisions to keep us both safe.

Hannah prayed for a safe place to pull over since two big trucks were on her tail.
Look at the spot He provided! It was so flat and shaded and pretty! It felt like a haven.
It was a reminder to ask for the details and the help - God says “You have not because you ask not.”

Chuck came riding by…

Finally we got to our end point and drove to a campground we saw on the map near the lake. We drove through vineyards and beautiful vistas, snagged a spot for only $28 and saw THIS!

We met the host, Richard and he briefly shared that his son had passed from cancer at 25. He helped us choose our camp spot and later, came by to get a few more of our bracelets that we hand out. We loaded him up with stickers and postcards as well. He shared more of his story with us. We always want to be a resource for anyone affected by cancer whether a survivor, a patient,or someone grieving a loss.

We made a simple meal of seared salmon, mango, strawberries, baby spinach, and a croissant.

What a view! We put on our suits and wandered down to the water and floated around, holding on to each other watching the fish leap into the air and eat the Love bugs. We are pretty sure they are a plague. They are sneaking in through the tiniest crevices in Howie. So creepy!

Jax went swimming and got a good bath in. It was high time.

After dinner, Chuck sent the drone up for some footage over Somerville Lake in Yegua Creek Park.

That’s Howie (above) right in the middle!
