Day 31 - Ride Like A Thriver

BIG change of plans today! We decided that instead of staying in Sanderson (which had NO food in any store or restaurant) for our Rest Day, to drive our new biking friend Darrell to Del Rio where we were planning to ride to in a few days.

The 2 hour drive brought us through clouds, wind, hot sun, fog, and rain. We saw ALL of our biking friends and honked to them on our way by! What an experience meeting all of them yesterday!

Keith, Darrell’s biking buddy took off at 7:30 this morning out of the RV Park.

We are AMAZED seeing how bikers that carry all of their gear, fit everything in their packs. We are both feeling very spoiled having Howie, our home on wheels.

We arrived in Del Rio, Texas (close to the Mexican border) at 11:30 in the morning and stopped at a little pizza place. WOW the pizza was SO GOOD! Darrell treated us to lunch and ordered us a loaded pizza that was made in a Wood fired oven.

Lou, the owner and pizza chef came over and sat with us while we were eating. That oven is amazing!

He added our sticker to the oven!

We spent an hour stocking up on food & things we needed at Walmart, took Darrell to the local bike shop where we met Chuy, the owner. He had just seen his friend Lou (pizza shop a few blocks up the road) post our picture with him on Instagram so he knew who Chuck was🤣

We got Darrell to his hotel nearby and headed up to the RV Park we had picked out, arriving exhausted at 5 pm. After hooking up we made yummy sandwiches and relaxed for the evening. Our “to do” list is rather long for tomorrow!

What a full day. No biking but a lot of working!
