Day 18 - Ride Like A Thriver
Before Chuck could even get on his bike, he got to share his story with Hiker Larry walking by on the side of the road! He is hiking from Mexico to Canada!
This picture symbolizes a lot. Two men heading in two different directions via two different modes yet both conquering great obstacles.
Lots of long, slow climbs today. Going down was the fun part.

We are heading to Silver City, New Mexico and plan to spend our Rest Day there tomorrow.

Lunch time! Protein smoothie made with protein powder, frozen fruit & kale blend, and coconut water for electrolytes.
We rode into Silver City and spied a bike shop. It’s ALWAYS a good idea to replace the 2 bike tubes we used this week (even if we have 4 more!)
It’s big country!
We met Dave, the owner, and shared our story. He hooked Chuck up with new bike shoe clip on pads. His current pair are so worn that he is having trouble clipping his bike cleats in to his pedals.
Jax cuddled right up to Dave. He’s a sweet judge of character
Dani, our server, cried big crocodile tears when she heard our story. She gave us lots of local tips.
After meeting our campground neighbors, hooking up, and having a very simple dinner, it’s time for bed.
Goodnight Howie.
