Day 10 – The Invitation

Today’s lesson will take just a bit longer, but it promises to transform your life…

Let’s begin this section with one of the most profound truths of the Bible.

The Lord God Almighty who created heaven and earth, and intimately created you, loves you beyond reason. His love relentlessly pursues you all the days of your life (Psalm 23:6, Matthew 18:12, Luke 19:10).

Hearing these words may be difficult as you face a diagnosis that you do not want, or simply when you listen to the latest news report about world events.

Where is God in all this tragedy?

The Bible tells us that God created the world as we know it with a passion for beauty, health, fellowship, fullness, purpose, satisfaction, and life. He created man and woman in His likeness, with the intention of deep and loving communion with them. Nevertheless, when a fallen angel from heaven, the devil, deceived the man and woman into thinking that God was holding out on them, they ate from the only tree God had forbidden them to partake of in the Garden of Eden.

The couple’s bite from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil unleashed several tragic circumstances that the Lord had warned them would take place if they didn’t listen to His one command. In their disobedience…

  • They ushered in evil, rupturing the pristine and flawless world God had created with death, disaster, disease, selfishness, sin, and pain (Genesis 3:14-16, Romans 6:17-21).

  • Their sin of missing the mark of God’s perfection caused an inseparable divide between them and their loving Father. The now unholy was removed from the Most Holy God (Romans 6:23).

  • Adam and Eve lost the dominion and rule over the earth, which the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit had given them. In truth, they handed over their authority to the serpent−the devil−who had deceived them (1 John 5:19).

Yet, God had a plan…

God would come to rescue humanity and He would take upon Himself the penalty for the curse of their sin and the devil’s evil. Jesus came as a man to call back to the Father those who had turned from Him.

Jesus, co-equal, co-divine, co-eternal, and co-existent with the Father and the Holy Spirit, gave up the prerogatives of His Kingdom to live among man and reveal the love of God. He healed the sick, raised the dead, set captives free from the enemy’s tyranny, and literally brought heaven down to earth. He still works these same miracles today.

To receive Jesus into your life is a life-altering decision. You will no longer walk alone (John 14:15-18). You will have the resources of heaven on your side (Romans 8:31-39). You can walk intimately with the God of the universe and no longer search for life’s meaning or purpose−you will find His purposes for you are thrilling and fulfilling. You will discover that His presence is more than enough to satisfy every longing, and His power is available to strengthen you from the inside-out and will provide all that you need. Though you and I still live in a broken, fallen, and disease-riddled world, the power of the enemy over our lives can be decimated at the name of Jesus. The Lord Jesus still heals and works wonders today (Hebrews 13:8).

Yet, the choice is given to every man, woman, or child to receive the Savior’s gift of eternal life by faith. He will not force Himself upon you.

If you have not done so before, please don’t hesitate to take this most important step of inviting Jesus into your life. By asking Him to be Lord of all you are−even if your faith seems small−is the best decision you will ever make in your lifetime.

He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
Matthew 10:39

If you are ready to receive the Lord Jesus into your life, but you are not sure what to say to Him, simply pray the words below, making them your own in your heart and mind.

Dear Lord Jesus,

I come to you now in great need. I ask to be born again in Your Holy Spirit. Please forgive all my sin. I acknowledge that You died on the cross to save me and You rose again that I might live with you now and forever. I receive You into my heart, and I offer my life to You.

In Your Powerful Name, I pray, Lord Jesus.
Amen.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…
John 1:12
